You are limited to checking out 20 physical items at one time.  There is also a 5 book limit on any one topic.  However, don't forget about electronic resources, such as e-books and articles!  There is no limit to how many of these you can access, and it's likely that these will be better and more updated sources than a few print books that we may have on your topic.
