When you "drop" a class within the Add/Drop period, you are entitled to a refund and neither a grade nor the class shows up on your transcript. When you "withdraw" from a class (the deadlines are published on the academic calendar), you will lose the money you paid for the class, and the class will appear on your transcript with the grade of "W".
